One of the many questions I got before coming a dad was, “How Does it Feel to Become a Dad?” And at the time it was fear and excitement. But also what I noticed was a lack of emotion. I don’t think it’s because I am some cold hearted sociopath, but just the opposite I am a pretty sensitive dude. And to hold it together I often avoid feeling emotions so I can stay “in control,” whatever that means. In addition, regardless of becoming anew dad or not, I feel like all of us are becoming numb to emotion as we take any free moment and give it to some sort of addiction to avoid feeling.
