Well it’s been a little while in baby poop land and there have been some new happenings that need reporting.
First, blow outs! For the uninitiated, a blow out is when a baby has so much poop it extends beyond the boundaries of the diaper. Most often this is through the top back of the diaper up the back. However we’ve seen a rare side blow out too along the legs. The blow outs generally require an outfit change.
Blow outs are no fun, and there some general properties we’ve seen and postulated on:
- The more expensive the outfit the quicker a blow out will occur (true story under 30 mins with a fancy designer outfit)
- The less convenient timing, the increased odds of a blow out
- This includes middle of the night changes
- When you’re out and about
- The newer the people you show off the baby to, the higher the odds of a blow out (this actually happened today in the middle of lunch out with a friend visiting from abroad. That’s not how we welcome our international guest little guy!)
And in other news, I had the honor of poop hand the other day while changing Noah. I was just wiping him after a regular diaper change, and then he finishes what he started, on my hand. I guess I can be thankful it’s no longer projectile?
We are still in the pure breast milk, nice liquid poop stage of the game. It gets harder from here on out we hear. (ba-dum ching!)
Stay tuned for more news on number twos….
